Thor That Wanted to Pick Some Berries



Munchkin wrote this adorable story in school today for our language lesson.  The assignment was for him to tell a story about someone going berry picking...

Thor That Wanted to Pick Some Berries
Untrue Story

1985 – One time there was Thor. He wanted to pick some berries. He walked and walked and walked but since he was in the desert in Texas, he could not find any berries. Then all the sudden there was an earthquake. So he decided to leave Texas and go to Ireland and see if there were any berries there. So he walked and walked and walked and walked and walked until he came to a mountain. He went up, up, up, up…but the mountain was very high. He got to the tippy-top. Then he found a little place called Berry Hill. Then at Berry Hill there was a sign that said
“There Are a Lot of Earthquakes Here”
On the bottom, it said
“There Were Eight Earthquakes a Day”
So he went up there until there was the earthquake and he went to Blueberry Hill.  And then he found a big, big blueberry bush and there, at the blueberry bush, he got off his horse and went to pick all the blueberries. And then all the blueberries went in his bag. And then he needed a lot more bags. And he only brought one so he traveled all the way, all the way, all the way, all the way back to Texas because he was in North America at Utah. So he had to travel all the way back to Texas because they didn’t have airplanes back then. So when he got home, he gathered up all of them and then he went back to Blueberry Hill and said, “Whoaaaaaaaa!” He couldn’t believe his sight. Can you guess what he saw? He saw the whole mountain was covered with blueberry plants. So he picked all the blueberries, every single thing, every single one and then he traveled all the way back to Texas and then he got more bags.

Then he went to Raspberry Hill and there the sign said
“There Were a Lot of Tornados There”
And under it said
“There Are Ten Tornados a Day”

So he went to the place where all the raspberries were, then he went back home. Then he got more bags and went back there. And there he couldn’t believe his sight. There were more raspberry plants than at Blueberry Hill. And he picked every single one! Then he went back home to get more bags.

Then he got to the rainforest. There was a trail that led to a big grassland. There he found very, very few berries. He only found like one or two berries. But he went back home and he found out how many berries he wanted to pick this time. He counted, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30.”

Then he started counting by tens, “10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100.”

hen he started counting by ones again, “101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109.”

Then he started counting by tens again. He counted to a million! Then he found out that he needed just 5 berries. Then he went back to Raspberry Hill but he couldn’t find any berries because last time he picked all the berries. So he found a hill and he thought it was a regular hill so he passed it. But then he wanted to go back to make sure he was right. So he picked all the berries.
